About - Summarize Spoken Text is the first question type in PTE Listening Section. This question is designed to test a test taker’s skills to identify the topic, theme or main ideas from the audio. Comprehending the concrete and abstract information, classifying and categorizing information following an oral sequencing is expected in the exam. There are 2-3 questions in the exam allowing 10 minutes for each question. Audio content varies from a wide range of fields such as science, technology, history, economy and so on.
Scoring -
Each Quesstion contributes 10 marks for Listening and Writing
Section, and the marking depends on 5 parameters:
- Content: 2
- Grammar: 2
- Vocabulary: 2
- Spelling: 2
- Length (Form): 2
Strategy - To work smartly with SST, know that the audio contributes only 20 percentage of the total marks, which means the content you write from the audio. Later, presenting the summary in between 50-70 words is challenging part and covers the maximum percentage of total marks. The use of right template can avoid the grammatical error and the spelling error. Also, if you do not know the exact spelling of the word that you take the notes on, avoid using those words.
