About - Write Essay is the second type of question that will be asked in the PTE Writing exam. This question is designed to test a test taker’s ability to learn, inform or persuade an idea by supporting an opinion with details, examples and explanations. Organizing sentences and paragraphs in a logical way by developing the complex ideas within a complete essay is expected in the exam. The question types may vary from wide range of field and is mainly categorized under three types: agree or disagree, problem solution and advantages and disadvantages. The question number may vary from 1-2. 20 minutes time is allowed to write the essay of 200-300 words.
Scoring -
Each question carries 15 marks, and the marking criteria depends
on 7 parameters:
- Content: 3
- Grammar: 2
- Vocabulary: 2
- Spelling: 2
- Length (Form): 2
- Written Discourse: 2
- General Linguistic Range: 2
Strategy -
To get higher score in Write Essay, not only content, but also
other parameters play an important role. Most of the test
taker focus only content section which covers only 20
percentage of the total marks. Remaining 80 percentage of the
marks are coming from 6 other parameters.
