About - This section is designed to test the test taker’s ability to comprehend the topic, theme or main ideas from the paragraph. Also, it tests the skills to identify the relationships between the sentences and paragraphs, overall organization and connections between pieces of information. 2-3 questions are assigned for this section.

This is the first of three item types in the PTE Test where
points are deducted for incorrect answers. For example, for
selecting 2 right options, a test takers scores 2 points,
however, for selecting the 2 wrong options, the test taker
scores -2. 1: for correct answer
-1: for incorrect answer
0: Minimum Score
Strategy: Read the question carefully and understand the overall meaning of the question. Once you read the question, read the answer options and pick some key nouns from the options. Then use scan and skimming technique to find out the key nouns in the paragraph. Once you find the key ideas in the paragraph, read the sentence before and after the key nouns to get an overall idea of what the questions is asking. If you find it to be right, that’s great. Time duration: There is no specific time assigned to each question in this section. Therefore, it is important to keep an eye open and assign around 2-3 minutes for each question.
