PTE test lasts for 3 hours which is conducted in a secured test center where the test taker uses a computer and headset to respond to the given set of questions.

The PTE test consists of 4 sections like other similar English language tests like TOEFL and IELTS. The section includes Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening. The speaking and writing section comes together as a single section while the others are independent sections. The test takers are provided with an optional break in between the reading and listening sections. All these sections comprise of vast variation in the question formats comprising of multiple-choice, filling gaps, summarization, essay, interpretation, and so on.

PTE Score and Its Comparison with IELTS and TOEFL

The score obtained by the test taker in 20 different item types contributes to their overall score which ranges from 10-90 points. This range is also applicable for both the comunicative skill as well as enabling skill based on which the overall score of the test taker is determined.Listening,Reading,Speaking and Writing are the measured communicative skills. The measured enabling skills are grammar, oral fluency, pronounciation, spelling vocabulary, and written disclosure.

The test are scored by the use of machines.The factors like correctness, formal aspects, and the quality of the response determine the score. A correct response gets 1 score point whle the incorrect response gets no score point.In case of the partially correct response, some score is provided which is below the maximum score.
